LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Gain knowledge about social group identities.
2) Be aware about the formation of group identities and inter-group relations.
3) Learn well the literature on explicit and implicit prejudice and different methodological approaches measuring prejudice.
4) Gain insight about differentiating experiences (e.g., stereotype threat) of minority group members compared to majority group members.
5) Differentiate prejudices and discriminatory acts experienced in daily life and question these experiences from the target?s perspective
6) Be informed about prejudices and discriminatory acts based on gender and sexual orientations and question the influence of gender roles.
7) Be informed about prejudices and discriminatory acts based on ethnic and religious identity.
8) Gain insight about ways to combat prejudice (e.g., contact and collective behaviors) and apply this knowledge their own life.
9) Be aware about diversity and the positive effects of diversity.
